Dr. Downey opened Companion Care Animal Hospital in 2005 after 12 years as a veterinarian in private practice. Growing up in a small town, he felt a strong connection to the Wheatfield area. It was the perfect setting to build something meaningful.
Dr. Downey decided to create a hospital where customer education, compassion, and veterinary excellence come together. He was driven by a desire to fill the need for good quality veterinary care that was reasonably priced for the local community. He is particularly passionate about performing surgery and helping customers understand their pet’s health needs.

Companion Care Animal Hospital has services for general surgeries, such as spays, neuters, and mass removals, as well as orthopedic surgeries for dogs and cats. Every procedure is performed with thorough pre-operative assessments and attentive post-operative monitoring. Dr. Downey’s surgical expertise, along with our orthopedic surgical consultant for specialized procedures, means that your pet is in safe hands.
