Giving Sick and Injured Pets the Medical Care They Need

When your sick pet comes in for a vet visit, our staff will begin with a detailed physical exam and symptom discussion. From there, we may recommend in-house diagnostics to reach a diagnosis, such as X-rays, bloodwork, or an ear cytology. A veterinarian will talk through all findings and begin building a treatment plan right away.

Same-day appointments are often available for sick visits at an additional cost.

Issues We Treat During Sick Pet Visits

Our team regularly evaluates many health issues in cats and dogs.

Some of the most common reasons we see sick pets include:
While we provide care for many non-emergency pet illnesses, we do not have emergency services for critical cases. If your pet is in a life-threatening situation, they will need to be seen at an emergency veterinary hospital. In some instances, we may be able to stabilize your pet for transfer to an emergency clinic, but this is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

24-Hour Emergency Veterinary Facilities

For urgent cases that require intensive care, we refer our customers to local 24-hour veterinary hospitals. These facilities are equipped to handle emergencies that fall outside the scope of our general sick pet services. If your pet needs urgent life-saving care, please seek immediate attention from your closest emergency veterinarian.

FAQs About Sick Pets

How do I know if my pet needs a sick visit or emergency care?
If your pet is showing signs like difficulty breathing, seizures, collapse, or severe bleeding, they should be taken to an emergency veterinary hospital immediately. For symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, limping, or not eating, a sick visit at a general veterinarian is usually appropriate.
We offer same-day appointments for sick pets whenever possible. These are limited and carry an additional fee, so we recommend calling early in the day to check availability.
Please bring a list of symptoms you’ve observed, a stool sample (if applicable), and a list of any medications or supplements your pet is currently taking. Veterinary records, if you have not been to us recently, are also helpful. The more information we have, the better.
Most sick visits take around 30 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case and any diagnostics that may be required. We strive to keep you informed throughout the visit and answer all your questions.
If your pet needs specific diagnostics, hospitalization, or emergency surgery, we’ll refer you to a trusted 24-hour specialty or emergency clinic. We always want to get your pet the right care as quickly as possible.
